In the previous Lok Sabha elections held in 2019, Haji Fazlur Rehman of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) emerged victorious, securing a notable mandate with 5,13,268 votes. However, the margin of victory was relatively narrow, with Raghav Lakhanpal of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) trailing closely behind with 4,89,942 votes.

A similar pattern was observed in the 2014 elections, where Raghav Lakhanpal clinched the seat for the BJP with 4,72,261 votes, defeating his nearest rival, Imran Masood of the Indian National Congress (INC), by a margin of 64,445 votes.
