HYDERABAD: Members of Telangana Advocates JAC gave a representation to the US consulate (Hyderabad) on Monday, urging them to take appropriate action against an American brewery for hurting the sentiments of Indians by selling a beer named 'Gandhi Bot' beer. The beer also bears a picture of Mahatma Gandhi.
On Monday, three members of TAJAC led by K Goverdhan Reddy went to the US consulate and gave a letter addressed to US President Barack Obama, urging him to take action against New England Brewing Company, which has been selling 'Gandhi Bot' beer.

"Mahatma Gandhi fought against sale of liquor and always urged people to stop consuming it. All Indians are offended and deeply hurt when a US-based company started selling liquor with Mahatma's picture. We appeal to the US President through the consulate to immediately stop the firm from misusing Mahatma Gandhi's image," Goverdhan Reddy told TOI.
Police personnel at the consulate did not allow the advocates to enter the consulate, but collected the representation and passed it on to the consulate staff.
"The consulate staff informed us that the representation has been forwarded to the White House," Reddy said.
