International Women's Day: TV celebs salute the spirit of womanhood

All around the world, International Women's Day represents an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of women while calling for greater equality. Like the various other streams, women have made a mark in the entertainment industry as well. On the occasion of International Women’s Day, some television actresses share their views and send their wishes to women across India.

Mehreen Raheal, known for her roles in Mastani Mahi, Zindagi Gulzar Hai and Kaisi Yeh Qayamat, wishes that all women “believe” that they are beautiful, magical, witty and sensitive. “They have power to alter our future by educating their young and encouraging positivity! A woman’s smile can melt hearts and courage can conquer world… So ladies, believe”, she said.

Sidra Batool from Ye Galiyaan Ye Chaubaara says, “I wish women of our country develop in all their roles and bring about a change which is essential for their empowerment and inclusion on a broader scale.”

Samina Peerzada wishes that every girl child should be educated. Seen in cult shows like Dhoop Chaaon, Zindagi Gulzar Hai, Noorpur ki Rani, the veteran actress says, “The message that comes across from what Zindagi is showing is that economic empowerment is the only way forward for the women of the world.”

Rubina Ashraf, who stole hearts with her sensitive portrayal in Mera Saaya, says, “I hope and wish that all the women of the world realize their potential and strength and know that they truly are the ones that are making this world go round, not only by working in their homes and offices, but most importantly by raising their children to be the productive individuals that are pillars of any society."
