Remove mehendi from your hands in the fastest way possible

Festivals and weddings are the perfect occasions to adorn your hands with stunning mehendi design, a beautiful tradition that adds charm to the celebrations. But once the festivities wind down, many of us are eager to remove the lingering tint, which can take days to fade. If the deep stain no longer fits your modern aesthetic, fret not. With the right tips and easy homemade solutions, you can speed up the process. Here are 5 simple and effective ways to remove mehendi instantly from your hands.

2/6

Baking soda

Step 1: Rich in exfoliating properties, take ½ cup lemon juice and 2-3 teaspoons of baking soda, creating a paste.
Step 2: Apply this to the stained area and let it sit for 15 minutes.
Step 3: Gently scrub the paste in a circular motion to help loosen the stain, and then rinse the area with warm water.
Step 4: Remember to moisturise your skin afterwards, as this paste can make your skin dry and flaky.

Tomato juice

Step 1: Brimming with citric acid, tomato juice acts as a natural exfoliant and helps break down the henna dye. Slice a ripe tomato and extract the juice.
Step 2: Apply this on the area with mehendi, and mix a few drops of lemon juice as well.

Step 3: Massage in a circular motion to remove the juice and gently exfoliate the surface. Repeat this process a few times and remove all the stains.
Step 4: Wash your hands thoroughly after 15 minutes and moisturise them with body oil.

Sugar scrub and coconut oil

Step 1: Another great skin exfoliator, sugar blended with coconut oil, has skin-brightening abilities. Take 2 teaspoons of sugar and add 1 teaspoon of coconut oil.

Step 2: Blend the two and gently apply this mixture on your hands and feet.
Step 3: Gently massage this grainy paste and focus on the area with mehendi. Let the sugar dissolve in the process.
Step 4: Rinse off your hands with warm water after the process and moisturise your hands and feet with body oil or cream moisturiser.

5/6

Saltwater soak

Step 1: If you do not wish to create a fuss by making a paste, then opt for this combination that works as an exfoliator and removes impurities, making the mehendi stain fade away.
Step 2: Take a bucket of warm water and add 5 teaspoons of salt. This will also nourish your skin by shedding off the dead skin.
Step 3: Dip your hands and feet, turn by turn, for 20 minutes and pat them dry afterwards. You will witness the change. Moisturise your skin afterwards.

Use hair conditioner

Step 1: This might come out as odd to you, but the chemical properties present in hair conditioner can dull the henna colour without damaging your skin.
Step 2: Take a generous amount of hair conditioner in your hands, and rub it on your henna stains.
Step 3: Let it stay for 15 minutes and then wash it off with plain water.

Step 4: Moisturise your hands thoroughly and enjoy.
