Why do hair problems increase in summer?

As we‘ve officially entered the summer season, the transition time can be immensely harsh on our locks. With excessive heat, sweat, and sun exposure, experiencing hair fall, scalp irritation, and frizz becomes an everyday occurrence. As people turn to natural remedies, there are two coconut-based solutions that dominate the conversation but often leave us with one question. Which is better? In today’s DIY chapter, we’ll see whether coconut oil is better than coconut water for hair growth during summer.

2/5

Coconut oil for hair growth

Coconut oil is known for its rich fatty acids and vitamins, which deeply penetrate the hair shaft and scalp. Unlike the other oils in the market, coconut oil absorbs deep into the scalp and strands, making it one of the most effective picks for deep nourishment. From strengthening the hair roots to reducing protein loss, it also prevents dryness and brittleness, making your strands less prone to breakage.

Coconut water for hair growth

Coconut water is packed with vitamins, minerals, and electrolytes, which makes it a great natural hydrator. During the summer season, our scalp is bound to get sweaty and dehydrated, and coconut water balances the oil production, rehydrates the scalp, and creates a cleaner and healthier environment for our hair follicles, solving issues of itchiness and irritation as well.

Can you use it together?

Step 1: Massage warm coconut oil into the scalp twice a week before washing your hair, which will deeply nourish the roots.

Step 2: After shampooing, use coconut water for a final rinse and hydrate the scalp, which will also add shine.

Step 3: Now, create a summer hair mask by blending 2 tablespoons of coconut oil and 3 tablespoons of coconut water. Apply it to your scalp and strands for 30 minutes, and enjoy a nourished and hydrated environment.

Which one is better?

The truth is, both work in different ways, but if used together, they do complement each other. Where coconut oil supports hair growth by strengthening the hair strands, coconut water supports hair growth by hydrating and refreshing the scalp. Both are important in their own ways, especially in hot weather. So, the best result can be attained by combining both the ingredients in your summer routine and enjoying long, shiny, and strong locks.
