Literature has given a lot to bibliophiles. Whether it’s fantastic characters, spellbinding storylines, and dreamy destinations - we owe a lot to books. Furthermore, some stories have such astonishing settings - fictional or real - that they form a place in our hearts. With that being said, here are five romantic destinations in literature that bibliophiles would love to visit.

It’s gorgeous, elegant, and sophisticated. Who doesn’t want to loiter around its parlor rooms, and feel the marble floors? This is the home of Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy, an eligible bachelor who is indeed in want of a good wife, whom he finds in Elizabeth Bennet. In describing the estate, Austen uses explicit symbolism to represent the geographical home of the man at the center of the novel. On first visiting the estate, Elizabeth is charmed by the beauty of the surrounding countryside, as indeed she is by Mr. Darcy himself. Elizabeth had already rejected Mr. Darcy's first proposal by the time she visits Pemberley—it is his letter, the praise of his housekeeper, and his own courteous behavior at Pemberley that bring about a change in her opinion of Mr. Darcy.

This location is especially charming in winter when the village near the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry resembles a gingerbread town. There’s so much for you and your date to do here: a cup of tea at Madam Puddifoot’s, followed by shopping at Tomes and Scrolls for your bookish needs, Zonko’s for your joking needs, and Honeydukes for your sweet tooth needs. Verona is a city in northeastern Italy. In Shakespeare's lifetime, it was part of the Venetian Republic, but until 1405 it had been an independent city-state. The Verona of Romeo and Juliet seems to be independent and with its own prince, who authorizes and enforces local laws. Verona is blessed with medieval architecture - don't miss the Piazza dei Signori and the mini "Colosseum," called the Arena.
