5 things only true book lovers will understand

“When the Day of Judgment dawns and people, great and small, come marching in to receive their heavenly rewards, the Almighty will gaze upon the mere bookworms and say to Peter, “Look, these need no reward. We have nothing to give them. They have loved reading.”

These lines by renowned English writer Virginia Woolf accurately describe what it means to be a book lover. Books are the constant companions for many people and provide them a sense of solace in a world that is too fast and intense. For others, they act as gateways to fantastical lands, full of magical creatures and places. Thus, here is a look at 5 things only true book lovers will understand.

2/6

You get too attached to your books

While reading a book, it is very natural for you to feel as if you were the one going through all the ups and downs the protagonist is going through. You just can't stop reading despite knowing that the book is going to end on a sad note. Through various characters, you live more than hundreds of different lives. Furthermore, you feel a sense of emptiness after finishing a book.

3/6

Someone borrowing your book is a big no-no!

This is completely one of those situations where you don't want to do anything but you have to do it in order to not come across as rude. You know the person asking to borrow your book is not going to return it or is not going to take care of it well. Even thinking about this sends shivers down your spine! But you feel obligated to do it because you don't want to be called ungenerous or obsessed.

4/6

You prefer books to people

You will rather be in close company with your book than being at a loud party with lots of people. Also, whenever you are in a problem or need emotional support, you turn to books. This is because you understand the books can be a helpful therapy through distressing times can be a better source of comfort than words from another person.

5/6

You read the books you love again and again

Every book lover has a favorite book that he/she could never get tired of, no matter how many times they read it. They read this book when they are happy, sad, excited, or even unwell! Irrespective of how they are feeling, their favorite book is the perfect mood-setter for them.

6/6

You never understand why some people don't like reading

For you, books are something that plays a significant role in your life. Without them, you feel incomplete and unhappy. Because of this, you never understand how someone could hate reading. It's something that you take personally, and any amount of logical arguments or reasons don't seem to pacify you!
