If you have been envious of the Books on the Underground initiative wherein commuters would find books hidden in the London Tube, this is your time to rejoice.

A Delhi-based couple, who are avid readers and book lovers, have been doing in the Delhi Metro what Emma Watson did in the London Underground and New York City Subway. They are taking their passion for reading one step further by leaving books in metro trains and metro stations in the Delhi NCR.

The non-profit project, called ‘Books on the Delhi Metro’, is founded by Shruti Sharma, a writer, and Tarun Chauhan, a civil engineer, just a month ago.

The fun programme kicked off with the couple dropping off a book marked with a 'Books on the Delhi Metro' sticker on the Delhi Metro, and they immediately started posting clues about its location on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. Anyone who picks up the book is encouraged to post about their discovery using the hashtag #booksonthedelhimetro, read the book, and eventually return it to the Delhi Metro for someone else to read.

Shruti Sharma was inspired by a video of Emma dropping books the New York City Subway earlier this year as part of the Books on the Underground project. The idea intrigued both Sharma and Chauhan, who spend at least a couple of hours on the metro daily for their regular commute and carry their own books to read while on board.
