Friendship Day
Friendship is one of the most important relationships we cultivate in our lifetime. As we get old, our friends become our family and they truly deserve a special day to celebrate this bond. Friendship Day is celebrated on the first Sunday of August, hence friends can use the weekend to spend time in each others company. It is celebrated on different dates worldwide, but in Malaysia, Bangladesh, UAE and India, it is celebrated on the first Sunday of August. A day to celebrate friendship was first proposed in 1958 in Paraguay and it's now popular worldwide. It has been popular in India for several years and many celebrate by tying friendship bands on their close friends' wrists, exchanging cards or sending sweet messages (now that technology has progressed), sometimes even exchanging gifts or flowers. Usually, one meets their friends if they live close enough for that to be possible and, if not, they communicate somehow via technology.
On this occasion, we must go out of our way to make our friends feel loved. We must let them know that they are important to us and make our life special. You can send them a card or a message to express your feelings. A personalised one is best, handwritten from the heart and filled with personal anecdotes or in-jokes. You can use the following images and cards, wishes and quotes to accompany your personal words. You can send them via messaging or social media or you can print them out and give them in person too, surprising your friend. You can also make them your status or a story on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Whatapp or any other social media to express your affection more publically.
