Happy Independence day
India is a land of colourful festivals and religions, but one festival that binds the entire nation together is Independence day. The historical day imparts the message of unity in diversity and patriotism. The day is marked by unfurling the national flag, singing the national anthem and remembering the struggles of the freedom fighters who laid their life for the country.
It was on this day in the year 1947, India attained freedom from over 200 years long British rule. The day holds importance in a number of ways since it reminds every Indian about the dawn of a new beginning. We lost several people in this long journey of freedom. Many were killed and detained in the process, but they never stopped until we attained freedom from the clutches of the British rule.
This day is about remembering the struggles of those freedom fighters who fought for the country and realise where we are coming from and what freedom really means for us. Besides, it is also a reminder to all the citizens that they should always strive to make their country proud.
