The pious festival of Krishna Janmashtami is here and here's wishing every one a blissful and prosperous life. Also called Gokulashtami, Janmashtami is an annual Hindu festival that originates in India, celebrating the birth of Lord Krishna, the eighth avatar of Vishnu.
To celebrate this holy day, all or most Krishna temples across India as well as in many foreign locations are beautifully decorated, processions are arranged, bhajans and kirtans are organised and kids dress up as gods and goddesses, especially as Lord Krishna himself. Temples and even some domestic households organise recitation of holy books Bhagavata Purana and Bhagavad Gita.
