WPL Fresh & Fit Challenge: Celebrating Girl Power Through Sports in Mumbai & Baroda
Mumbai & Baroda: The Women’s Premier League (WPL) Fresh & Fit Challenge, a unique initiative aimed at empowering young women through sports, recently concluded successful city finales in Mumbai and Baroda. Spearheaded by the BCCI via WPL and curated by Times Experiences in collaboration with Times Fresh Face, the challenge is not just a competition—it is a nationwide movement encouraging young girls to embrace fitness, develop life skills, and pursue sports as a viable career.
The Mumbai event featured speed and stamina drills, agility tests, and team challenges designed to test participants both physically and mentally. A key highlight was an inspiring interactive session with women athletes and fitness experts who shared their journeys, motivating the audience to break stereotypes and pursue sports confidently.
Also on the judging panel were BCCI cricket coach Jayesh Kulkarni and Nicole Bolton, fielding coach of the Mumbai Indians. Winners were felicitated with trophies, certificates, mentorship opportunities, and an exclusive invite to watch WPL matches live—further igniting their passion for sports.
Baroda Finale: Building Confidence Through Competition
In Baroda, the city finale hosted over 50 participants from various colleges, offering them a platform to explore their athletic potential. The challenges mirrored those of the Mumbai leg, including strength and flexibility drills, obstacle courses, and endurance tests. The focus remained on promoting holistic fitness and empowering young women to incorporate sports into their personal and professional growth.
Actress Mugdha Godse, who graced the event, shared her perspective: “Sports is not just about competition; it’s about building character, discipline, and resilience. The enthusiasm in Baroda is truly inspiring. We are committed to providing more opportunities for young girls in athletics.”
Finalists from Baroda will also compete at the national finale, where they’ll go head-to-head with winners from other cities for the coveted title.
The WPL Fresh & Fit Challenge is rooted in a broader vision—to normalize women’s participation in sports, inspire confidence, and build a generation of mentally and physically resilient women. With interactive sessions, mentorship, and national exposure, the program is designed to impact lives well beyond the competition.
By integrating with Times Fresh Face—a flagship talent discovery platform that has launched many successful careers—the WPL Fresh & Fit Challenge strengthens its position as a launchpad for future women athletes of India.
As the national finale approaches, the excitement and momentum continue to build. The WPL, in partnership with Times Experiences and Times Fresh Face, remains committed to fostering a stronger sporting culture among young Indian women—one city, one champion, one story at a time.
