The politics of power dressing

Nailing razor-sharp blazers and elegant monochrome settings, Giorgia Meloni has lately been the talk of the town in the fashion world. She has quietly built a wardrobe of authority and confidence that aligns with modern political power dressing. She thrives on minimalism, calculated poise, and intense structure, proving that the most powerful looks sometimes don't require screaming for attention. With her recent public appearances alongside Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the internet is suddenly obsessed with her sharp fashion looks, and here we decode some of them.

Adding a traditional twist

For the G20 dinner on September 9, the prime minister of Italy, Giorgia Meloni, made a rather ethnically appropriate appearance during her Indian visit. At the Bharat Mandapam, she wore a plain black high round-neckline kurta set with a traditional mauve draped dupatta around her shoulders, which featured a golden border. She completed the look with matching black flared bottoms, her natural no-makeup base and sleek, straight, open locks.

The monochrome drama with a modern attitude

For an event, she was seen decked out in a sharp long-collared blazer with statement matching buttons and a sleek lapel, drenched in a soft pastel blue shade. She wore it over a plain white collared shirt and added a pair of matching blue bottoms. But, instead of opting for sleek, straight office pants, she added a modern edge with a fit-and-flare attitude, which looked absolutely iconic with her golden, open, soft, wavy locks.

When trench coats take over politics

During her meeting with King Abdullah II at Palazzo Chigi in Rome, she carried just the right notes of quiet luxury and wore a soft beige long coat with sleeveless charm, long front collared detailing, and sharp golden buttons at the front. Meloni wore it over a fitted full-sleeved off-white sweater and completed the look with dark beige fitted office pants and matching heels.

Straight out of a sitcom character

Once in a blue moon, she shifts from her neutral colour palette and explores soft hues like pastel pink, knowing exactly how to nail the shade. She wore a pink double-breasted blazer coat over a sharp white collared shirt and completed the look with white office pants, exuding confidence with a feminine edge that met both boardroom and Pinterest aesthetics equally.
