The difference between Labubu, Zimomo and Mokoko

These days, it might be impossible to scroll through social media without coming across the Labubu type. If you are out of the loop, we’ve got you covered. Here is the difference between Labubu, Zimomo and Mokoko, the three plushies that have gripped the internet recently:

2/11

How did Monster Toys get so popular?

Labubus, goofy-looking dools with oversized eyes and a mischievous smile, began as figures in Kasing Lung's "The Monsters" series in 2015, but gained global popularity after the Chinese toy company Pop Mart started releasing blind box versions in 2019. Social media unveilings and celebrity endorsements turned Labubu into a status symbol and collectables as expensive as rare artwork.

3/11

Who is Labubu

Labubu is the original troublemaker in the Monsters' world. She has prickly fur, pointed ears and nine small. She doesn't have a tail and always appears bold, playful and somewhat up to trouble. If you spot a monster everywhere across trending reels with fashion bags or keychains, it's probably Labubu.

4/11

Who is Zimomo

Zimomo is Labubu's enigmatic elder brother and the forest gang leader. Zimomo has a larger, rounder face and a spiked tail. Zimomo is typically serene, dreamy and gentle, nearly angelic, opposite Labubu's frenetic energy. The tail and the contemplative look are how you can spot a Zimomo in the wild.

5/11

Who is Mokoko

Mokoko is the adorable little toy out of the Monster Toy collection. Mokoko comes with light pink fur, a rounded face, a white belly, and large, shining eyes. Her silhouette is the same as Labubu but has a pale fur and a friendlier face. If the toy has a softer, pinkish look with adorable eyelashes, chances are that you have Mokoko.

6/11

Where to find Monster Toys in India

Although Pop Mart is the only official source of Labubu toys worldwide, in India, you can purchase them from online platforms such as Amazon, special Instagram toy retailers, and collectable shops that import designer Asian toys. Certain larger malls and speciality pop culture stores might also carry Labubu blind boxes or plushies.

7/11

Irresistibly cute!

Labubu, Zimomo, and Mokoko have captured the hearts of collectors and pop culture enthusiasts alike because they blend irresistible cuteness with a dash of quirk and mischief, making them more than just toys, they’re personality-packed art pieces. Each character has a distinct, instantly recognisable design: Labubu with its cheeky grin, Zimomo’s plushy charm, and Mokoko’s playful sweetness.

8/11

Limited-edition drops

Their limited-edition drops and collaborations with renowned artists add an exclusivity factor, while their backstories and expressive faces make them feel almost alive, sparking both nostalgia and the thrill of owning something truly unique.

9/11

Celebs have fallen under the spell of Labubu

Hollywood celebrities seem to have collectively fallen under the spell of Labubu, the mischievous little creature from the collectible art toy world. From red carpet appearances to Instagram stories, stars are showing off their quirky Labubu figurines as if they’re the newest status symbol. Whether it’s displayed on a designer coffee table or casually peeking out from a luxury handbag, this whimsical character has become an unexpected yet coveted accessory in A-list circles, blending pop culture cool with a dash of playful eccentricity.

10/11

And, Bollywood is obsessed with them!

Bollywood’s elite have officially turned Labubu dolls into this year’s most tantalising accessory craze. These quirky toys, created by Hong Kong artist Kasing Lung and popularised via blind-box blindboxes, have become a playful fashion statement sweat. Rising star Sharvari Wagh added instant charm by clipping a Labubu keychain to her Balenciaga. Gen Z darling Ananya Panday made headlines when she was caught strolling with a pink Labubu dangling from her tote. Pashmina Roshan, too, carries her blue plush Labubu everywhere like a cute little sidekick. Even Urvashi Rautela went full-on bold, showcasing FOUR dolls on her Hermès bag at Wimbledon 2025. And of course, Twinkle Khanna made the trend both witty and relatable by calling it her “new obsession” in a recent Instagram post.

11/11

How to spot a fake Labubu?

To verify if your Labubu toy is original, carefully examine the features, quality, and packaging of the box and the doll. Look out for the Pop Mart logo stamp, which will be present on the left foot, and a QR code will also be present on the box. Also, check for consistent colours, crisp printing, and seamless stitching.
