After a decade-long absence from the Met Gala’s fashion carpet, Beyoncé didn’t just return, but she closed the biggest fashion event of the year on her own terms. She owned its very final moments on the steps and arrived as one of the last guests of the night, where her showstopping appearance literally attracted all the cameras and flashes. She quietly embodies the evening’s ‘Costume Art’ theme and transforms the carpet into her own personal stage. Arriving at the steps with her daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, and husband Jay-Z, the trio delivered equal parts of legacy, fashion, and, of course, cultural dominance like no other.

Beyoncé was seen in a customised Olivier Rousteing crystal-encrusted gown which traced the illusion of a skeletal form across the body, which went all the way to her gloves. It came with a flesh-toned sheer base with intricate embroidery acting like the bones, giving the effect of a true work of art, which perfectly aligned with the theme of the year.

What sealed the look was a voluminous, feathered train which ran across the carpet and was elevated with a celestial-looking crown-like headpiece which sat on top of her honey-blonde locks. With 1920-inspired finger waves, she finished her look with sparkling Chopard accessories and instantly became the highlight of the evening.

By her side was Blue Ivy, who, at just 14, made her debut at the Met Gala in a sculptural white gown featuring a voluminous, ballooned skirt, which looked heavenly. Well, closing the carpet is no small feat, but it's Beyoncé, who truly can run the show alone, who managed to seal the deal like a pro. Well, it's safe to say that it was worth the wait, where her arrival felt less like a comeback and more like a coronation.
