In a Paithani saree, Bhumi Pednekar turns Maharashtrian heritage into a timeless couture moment

When we talk about reviving India’s timeless textile heritage in the modern era, only a few silhouettes manage to carry the grandeur of the renowned Paithani drape. The weave is known for its illuminating silk look, stunning zari borders, and its signature lotus-to-peacock motifs.

And recently, Bhumi Pednekar draped this beautiful silhouette, bringing back the legacy and tradition with a hint of couture. Known for her fashion experiments, the diva stepped out in a vibrant Paithani drape and transformed the centuries-old textile into a contemporary, stylish moment.

Looking like an archival piece coming straight out of a museum, the diva was seen in a stunning Pankaj S. Heritage piece and wore an orange silk drape featuring intricate floral motifs and shimmery real gold zari woven across the pallu and borders. The label is known for its traditional textile techniques and how beautifully they preserve the values of Indian craftsmanship.

She draped the saree in a Gujarati-inspired style, where the pleats fell neatly at the front, whereas the pallu quietly swept from the back and was subtly layered across the torso. This structured drama added a hint of sculptural quality and allowed the craftsmanship of the textiles to take centre stage.



She complemented the saree with a blooming rani pink archival Angi blouse, sourced from the same label. Featuring a plunging neckline with half sleeves and intricate gold zari detailing, it also had rich embroidery with precious gleaming stones.


Keeping her jewellery note on point, she went all out and wore a stunning lotus-inspired hasli necklace set with rubies and polki on it and leaned towards Maharashtrian accessories like a bugadi ear ornament, matching statement earrings, a gold beaded chain, a beautiful kada, and a feisty septum ring.

Bhumi went all in with her styling and also carried a scroll bag inspired by the Peshwa era, which was historically used to transport royal messages across the Maratha empire. Fascinating! On the makeup front, she managed to keep a contemporary look and opted for a dewy base with defined eyes, blush-tinted cheeks, and a hint of glossy fuchsia lips.


She styled her hair in a sleek centre-parted bun and completed the Marathi-mulgi look with the signature half-moon-shaped historical bindi. By choosing this stunning drape, she not only made a fashion statement but also proved that this weave is perfect for festivities and also for red-carpet glam.
