Kangana Ranaut serves old-world glamour in a Paithani saree that's hard to forget

Kangana Ranaut and sarees are a combination we've seen countless times, but somehow she still manages to make every look feel fresh.

At the Delhi screening of her upcoming film Bharat Bhagya Vidhata, Kangana once again skipped flashy trends and went back to what she does best - a beautiful handwoven saree.

The screening was attended by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, members of the film's cast and crew, and the real people whose lives inspired the story. But as photos from the evening started doing the rounds online, fashion lovers quickly found themselves talking about Kangana's outfit.

2/7

Why this saree felt personal

The actor later shared pictures on Instagram and revealed why she picked the look. Since she plays a Marathi girl in the film, she decided to wear a Paithani saree for the occasion.

Honestly, it felt like the perfect choice.

Kangana has never been someone who wears Indian handlooms only when the occasion demands it. Whether she's travelling, attending Parliament sessions, promoting films or showing up at public events, sarees have remained a constant in her wardrobe.

And not the heavily embellished, difficult-to-carry kind either.

A lot of the time, she chooses pieces that celebrate the weave itself.

This Paithani was no exception.

3/7

The beauty of a classic Paithani

Draped in shades of gold and yellow, the saree carried all the beauty the weave is known for. The rich borders, the colourful peacock motifs and the sheen of the silk gave it a regal feel without making it look too heavy.

It looked festive, elegant and surprisingly easy to wear all at once.

She paired it with a matching gold blouse that blended seamlessly with the saree. The blouse wasn't trying to steal attention. It simply complemented the drape, which is exactly how these things should work.

4/7

Jewellery that let the saree shine

Her jewellery stayed traditional too. A kundan choker, matching earrings and a statement ring added just enough sparkle. Nothing felt excessive. Nothing looked forced.

5/7

Soft glam, no overdoing it

Even her hairstyle felt softer than usual. Kangana traded her signature curls for a centre-parted half-up style with braided detailing, giving the entire look a slightly old-world charm.

And then there was the makeup.

A small red bindi, softly lined eyes, fresh skin and glossy lips. That's pretty much it.

No dramatic contouring. No over-the-top glamour.

Just simple styling that let the saree do most of the talking.

6/7

Why her saree looks connect with people

That's probably what makes Kangana's traditional looks stand out.

You never get the feeling she's wearing a saree because someone told her it would look good in pictures. It feels like something she genuinely enjoys wearing.

There are celebrities who wear traditional outfits for festivals and wedding seasons. Then there are celebrities like Kangana, who have made Indian weaves part of their everyday style language.

And people notice that difference.

Maybe that's why so many women relate to her saree looks. They don't feel impossible to recreate. You can imagine wearing something similar to a family function, a festive gathering or even a formal event.

7/7

A style formula she keeps returning to

In a celebrity fashion world that's often packed with dramatic gowns, experimental silhouettes and trends that disappear as quickly as they arrive, Kangana's approach feels refreshingly familiar.

She keeps coming back to Indian textiles.

She keeps wearing sarees.

And she keeps reminding people that sometimes the most striking outfit in the room isn't the loudest one.

For the Bharat Bhagya Vidhata screening, she didn't need sequins, feathers or a dramatic fashion moment.

A beautiful Paithani saree did the job perfectly.
