Forget your designer logos

In an era of fleeting trends dominating our fashion feeds, Kangana Ranaut continues to make a compelling case for heritage fashion and yet again took us back to the roots with her latest style outing. The politician and actress recently attended the trailer launch of her upcoming film ‘Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata’ in a breathtaking Kanjeevaram saree, designed by Gaurang Shah. Rich in craftsmanship, glamour, and heritage, the look wasn’t just another style statement but a celebration of India’s weaving legacy.

No gowns or glitters

Kangana was dressed in a handwoven Kanjeevaram silk drape in a beautiful cream-hued setting, with a striking purple border incorporating traditional gold zari work. This drape featured special mochi embroidery, which is a centuries-old chain-stitching craft. The combination of the unique embroidery with this iconic drape is a unique and special reminder that luxury is not mass-produced but done and stitched over the years.

One Kanjeevaram with endless impact

The rich jewel-toned purple saree's pallu added just the right amount of dramatic contrast to the soft ivory base. It gave a royal and refreshingly contemporary touch, showcasing the designer’s signature ability to blend heritage weaving techniques with intricate embroidery work.

Keeping the styling refined and polished

Not for once did Kangana’s styling seem to overpower the saree’s grace, as she chose grand but complementing accessories which balanced out her whole look. She wore a traditional golden necklace that sat on her collarbone like a chic collar of her blouse and matched its prowess with stud floral-motif earrings. Kangana simply added one heavy bangle on each wrist and gave a polished and rich avatar.

Why did this heritage look work?

On the beauty front, she partially pinned her hair back and added fresh flowers, lending a graceful South Indian touch. Her makeup remained naturally graceful with a luminous base, neutral lip combination, defined eyes, and a rosy cheek touch. However, it is not the first time Kangana has championed an Indian handloom with such grace. Time and again, she has proved the prowess of heritage weaves over fast-fashion, making them perfect for modern red-carpet settings.
