Embracing Maharashtrian heritage

Mrunal Thakur is a diva who never shies away from experimenting with fashion and is always seen in gracious ensembles worth seeing. Always seen as the epitome of confidence and expression, the diva was recently seen flaunting her Maharashtrian culture, draped in a stunning Paithani saree filled with vibrant shades and carrying a luxurious sheen.

Transforming tradition into something quite intimate

Mrunal never once treated this pick as heritage or ceremonial wear, but she wore this traditional drape with ease, which looked personal and in-the-moment. Her Paithani saree came in a striking dual-toned palette and played with bright shades of red and green. Adorned with classic checks and vibrant peacock motifs, the subtle elements and colour combination indeed gave a rich cultural signal which grabbed our attention almost immediately.

Introducing the zari kaarigari

She anchored the look with a deep red, elbow-length, elegant blouse that was decorated with intricate zari threadwork, which further added a subtle depth and contrast to her look. This pic perfectly captured her traditional spirit, which is still a part of her modern lifestyle. What stood out was that the diva never once tried to modernise the fit and carried the traditional ensemble with grace, poise, and absolute elegance.

Thought restraint styling yet

The diva complemented the drape with a thoughtful restraint, simply wearing a studded heavy choker which sat gracefully on her neck and teaming it with matching jhumkas, a heavy bangle stack, and the very iconic Peshwai nath. These pieces added weight and a sense of grandeur without overpowering the ensemble’s charm. It is a perfect look for newlywed brides, who can carry this vibrant look with deep cultural meaning and can outshine anyone in seconds.

Who did the hair and makeup?

Mrunal Thakur’s glam moment started with a charming soft-hued base, with flush highlighter, defined eyes, and pink-toned lips. She kept her eyebrows on fleek and added the traditional chandrakor bindi in a red shade. Lastly, she tied her hair back into a classic bun and decorated it with fresh white gajra, which looked symbolic, traditional, and iconic.

A pious Maharastrian heritage

Mrunal’s choice of saree holds a revered place in the Maharashtrian heritage. Paithani sarees have a history of over 2,000 years, where once they were reserved only for the royals and were even traded for gold. Today, it remains in the trousseaus of every Marathi bride and features elaborate karigari of zari as well. Its price range usually starts from Rs 3,000 and can go up to Rs 2 lakh in the Indian market. So, the actress is not just wearing anything basic, but she’s indeed wearing the cultural pride of Maharashtra.
