She made the world sit up and stare

Stardom of this magnitude can often go to a celebrity's head and alter their personality, but that’s never been the case with Deepika Padukone. This Bengaluru girl hasn’t just owned Bollywood with her looks and moves; she’s also ignored fleeting trends and created her own timelines. Making her debut in Om Shanti Om, her portrayal of Shanti Priya instantly mesmerised audiences. With those big doe eyes staring right into one’s soul, she didn’t just walk red carpets, she owned them, rewriting fashion history on her own terms.

From becoming the first Indian to unveil the FIFA World Cup trophy in 2022 to serving as the first Indian jury member for the prestigious LVMH Prize in 2025, she’s ticked off milestone after milestone, all in utter style. Here are five iconic “firsts” and the looks that made them unforgettable.

First Indian to unveil the FIFA World Cup Trophy (2022)

In December 2022, Deepika was invited to the Lusail Stadium in Doha to unveil the FIFA World Cup Trophy. Just minutes before the world watched Argentina and France battle it out, she made a stylish entry and revealed a customised Louis Vuitton trunk. She wore a Louis Vuitton ensemble featuring a crisp white shirt, a brown oversized sleeveless jacket, a skirt, and a statement black belt. With calf-length boots and her signature red lips, she ruled the grounds with fashion flair.

First Indian global brand ambassador for Louis Vuitton (2022)

In May 2022, Deepika became the first Indian global brand ambassador for the French luxury house Louis Vuitton. Having modelled for the brand in 2020, this was a big leap. The announcement came via a handbag campaign alongside Emma Stone and Zhou Dongyu. Wearing a scalloped-border white jumpsuit with zipper detailing and carrying a statement LV bag, she made headlines worldwide. Since then, LV outfits, handbags, and accessories have been a staple in her wardrobe.

First Indian brand ambassador for Cartier (2022)

The year 2022 was clearly Deepika’s golden year. She became the first Indian brand ambassador for French jewellery house Cartier. Welcomed warmly by Senior Vice President Arnaud Carrez, she lit up social media in a sleek black full-length gown with a plunging V-neckline, paired with Cartier’s Panthère Givrée necklace and a bold red lip.

First Indian jury member for the LVMH Prize (2025)

Adding yet another feather to her cap, Deepika became the first Indian ambassador and jury member of the prestigious LVMH Prize in 2025. Attending the ceremony at the Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris, she wore an oversized brown and yellow tie-dye shirt paired with a mini skirt featuring bold calf-length fringes, both Louis Vuitton. A black bag, heels, and her poised presence sealed the power look.

First Indian actor to attend The Academy Museum Gala (2023)

Often described as the second-largest stage after the Oscars, the Academy Museum Gala is hosted by the same board. Deepika created history as the first Indian actor to walk its red carpet. She wore an indigo-blue sleeveless gown with a one-shoulder plunging sweetheart neckline, showcasing her décolletage and collarbones. With a floor-grazing hem, long train, and mermaid silhouette, she was an absolute vision on the global stage.
