The 57th Grammy Awards red carpet saw some great, some underwhelming and some outrightly outrageous style moments. Here are some 'hot and cold' highlights that will make you cheer and maybe even shudder.

Miley Cyrus looked sharp in a black cutout Alexandre Vauthier Couture gown. With chic, gelled back hair, nude make-up and simple diamond earrings, this usually snazzily dressed singer deserves a 10 on 10 for elegance. Makes us wonder if this transformation be the effect of her new beau, Patrick Schwarzenegger.

Singer Gwen Stefani showed off her killer body in a strapless Atelier Versace jumpsuit and pointed pumps. The sheer, asymmetrical neckline was highlighted by her choice to skip neck jewelry and wear only small diamond earrings instead. Teased hair, winged eyeliner and bronze make-up completed this glam-rock look.

Jeniffer Hudson showed off her curves in a classy white tube Dress by Tom Ford. A modern necklace and multiple ear pierings shone through her uber stylish pixie haircut. Cat eyeliner and bright purple lips became the focal point of her minimal-chic look.

Taylor Swift's muted shimmer ombre gown by Elie Saab was a masterpiece in itself, with a fusion of cutouts, structure and draping elements. Violet platform heels added a touch of girly spunk that Swift is known for. Her hair was left loose with a deep side parting, and her earrings and make-up resonated the same azure tones as her ensemble.

Lady Gaga looked like a mermaid in an embellished metallic Brandon Maxwell dress, with a deep v-neck and high leg slit. Silver flowing hair and strappy heels complimented the gown, while emerald jewelry and eye-make up became the accents of Gaga's comparatively subtler choice for the evening.

Rihanna brought some ramp love to the red carpet in her billowing Giambattista Valli Haute Couture tube gown. The singer looked fresh as a daisy in nude make up, a simple bun, soft pink and diamond jewelry and matching nail varnish.

Iggy Azalea's Giorgio Armani cutout dress with sheer panels was like something out of Star Wars, and yet she pulled it off with perfectly complementary hair and makeup - a crown-style braid, luminous eyes, and delicate pink lips.

Beyonce pulled a sheer black number in Proenza Schouler with long danglers, wavy hair and natural makeup. The dress had a deep v-neck and a peplum waist. Intricate lace details all along the body allowed for some skin show, a style Beyonce has opted for several times in the past.

COLD

Niki Minaj is known for her loud and unique clothing choices. So her all-black Tom Ford ensemble, straight hairdo and diamond earring set, although classy, was underwhelming. The plunging neckline and fitted silhouette was the only saving grace of the ensemble. The sequined fringe bottom didn't do much for the singer, who looked more somber than Mortitia Adams herself.

Madonna's matador-meets-burlesque Givenchy ensemble, complete with a corset, gloves and fishnet stockings was anything but befitting for the 56 year old singer; not to mention the butt-flashing incident.

Kim Kardashian wore an expectedly revealing dress by Jean Paul Gaultier that was over-the-top in every sense. From shimmery gold to heavy embellishments, the bathrobe-style dress definitely weighed down Kim's petite frame, and stole the spotlight from her new bob hairstyle.

Helen Lasichanh stuck out like a sore thumb on the red carpet in an unflattering Adidas overall with black pumps. While her husband Pharell Williams looked suave in a short suit, Lasichanh looked like she came straight from the gym, especially with her unkempt streaked mane. We can't decide whether this was a bad attempt at normcore or just a complete lack effort.
