It’s that time of the year when planning summer holidays takes precedence, and a major part of these discussions is having the perfect summer wardrobe. Designers Malini Ramani, Pia Pauro, Gauri-Nainika and Rohit Gandhi-Rahul Khanna might have a solution for that. The designers are putting together a fun pop-up shop in Delhi, which will showcase outfits perfect for the summer holidays.
But this initiative is also for a cause, as a percentage of the proceeds from this trunk show will go to the Naz Foundation (India) Trust, a care home for children living with HIV.
Malini says, “This idea came to us during fashion week. We wanted to do a fun show for the summer, and then we decided to do it for a cause. All of us put our resources together and worked for this. We work very closely with Naz and we thought that summer’s coming, so they would need coolers etc. We’re very happy and blessed to be able to do something for a cause. I’ve been to that care home many times, and I see how much love those children are given there. They just really count on people helping them, the way we’re trying to. We want to spread the word so more people come up and help them.”
Even though Anjali Gopalan, director, Naz Foundation, will not be able to attend the show, she says, “It’s incredible and it’s something that more people can do. It’s extremely generous of the designers to think about Naz and it’ll really help us because we’ll install four coolers for the children for the summer, and whatever is left over will go into the general pool of money for their education, books, food etc.” Gopalan has single-handedly created Naz and is currently looking after 33 children with HIV.
The trunk show will be held all day tomorrow, Saturday, April 25, at the Imperial Hotel in Delhi.
