For the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week, the FDCI has joined hands with PETA to open the week with a big announcement. PETA and FDCI are announcing the Fashion for Freedom Boycott Bill on February 15, the first day of the week. Under it, the organisations will commit to the cause of vegan fashion, and to get celebs and designers to join in. Poorva Joshipura, chief functionary, PETA India, told TOI, “Fashion is about all things beautiful, and we shouldn’t take innocent lives to look beautiful.
The world over, initiatives take place during fashion weeks, and we’re delighted to explore this partnership with FDCI.”
The bill will be introduced with Mahima Chaudhry and
Gulshan Grover present. Says Joshipura, “One of the initiatives will include models in cages to show how animals are treated, and to also have discussions about vegan fashion.”
Also, FDCI will have an activity where many designers who are not part of the fashion week will be part of a charity initiative. Suneet Verma, Ashish Soni and Ritu Beri are expected to participate.
