5 trends not to borrow from Korean pop stars

K-pop artists are becoming the internet’s new favourite fashion icons. While it may be tempting to recreate all your favourite artists’ looks, some things look good only on stage and camera. To avoid any fashion mishaps, here are 5 trends not to borrow from Korean pop stars:

2/6

Wearing very shiny clothes

K-pop artists tend to wear very shiny and bright garments on stage. Such garments typically contain lots of sequins or metallic details that are very reflective under stage lighting. Though they look attractive on stage, they may not be the best to wear on a daily basis.

You may find yourself having trouble with these highly detailed outfits to be able to handle the office or daily activities. If you want to have something that is comfortable and feels wonderful throughout the day, it's always wise not to use very shiny and weighty outfits and opt for the basics, which you rely on.

3/6

Blazer or jacket with shorts

The majority of K-pop idols like to wear jackets or blazers as tops and pair them with shorts or tights. Such fashion is trendy in music videos or TV shows, but would be too informal and risky to wear as everyday attire.

The majority of people like clothes that feel comfortable and look symmetrical. This risk-taking fashion might not suit outside of a special occasion.

4/6

Heavy fur jackets or coats

Fur coats or jackets are popular among K-pop winter fashion because they make celebrities look noticeable, apart from keeping them cosy. However, fur coats are often bulky and heavy, and can be difficult for you to walk around and perform daily tasks.

It can be uncomfortable to wear or carry heavy, thick fur pieces inside shopping malls or offices. So, fur might be elegant, but it's not practical to wear every day.

5/6

Very bright or unusual hair colours

K-pop stars frequently dye their hair vibrant, unconventional colours like neon or pastel. These types of hairstyles attract attention and look great on stage or in photos, but may be hard to maintain in everyday life.

Vibrant hair needs special care and products. Some places of work or schools may even disallow such hairstyles, so think before you go for that unconventional hairdo.

6/6

Wearing multiple thick chokers at once

Chokers are popular among K-pop stars. Nevertheless, wearing too many bulky chokers piled up on the neck gives a congested look. Instead of adding a fashionable touch, having too many chokers clutters the neck and spoils an outfit.

For daily wear, it is best to wear a single plain or thin choker so it goes with all kinds of clothes and does not draw attention away from your outfit.
