Process of making

Step 1: The patterns of the Maheshwari saree are based on the engravings done on the ancient walls of the forts; therefore, designs are classified based on the border patterns, and then the process is started.


Step 2: The process involves dipping threads into a special solution to bleach, and then the dyes are mixed in warm water with a naphthol solution, giving the stable hues.

Step 3: One lets the colour stay on the threads until they are washed and hung on the bamboo poles under the sunlight.

Step 4: The threads are untangled and then taken for further processing on the octagonal cylindrical frame, woven into a lightweight fabric.
