Right way to eat in winters

Come winter, and the whole human body and its cravings start acting differently. Due to dip in temperature, the thirst decreases and people often tend to eat more and more spicy and fried foods, as the chilling weather and warm fried foods compliment the taste buds. Amidst all this, there are a few winter eating mistakes that people commit and can lead to other health issues. Celebrity nutritionist Shweta Shah recently addressed this issue in a reel video and discussed three winter eating mistakes people commit, their side effects and the easy fixes to try at home. Take a look

2/4

Mistake 1 : Eating cold food

As per Shweta, the first most common mistake is the practice of eating very cold foods like cold milk or cold roti or cold rice, dal, chawal. She further explains, that make sure that winter is something wherein the agni has to be very set. So if you eat cold food, the agni will become weak.
Fix: It is suggested to always eat hot and freshly cooked meals like hot roti, hot dal, khichdi, soups. Winter needs warmth to keep the body's functioning smooth.

Mistake 2: Skipping healthy fats

In her post, she has explained that people often have a tendency of skipping healthy fats. For instance, they will skip ghee considering it will lead to weight gain and more. She calls it the biggest mistake.
Fix: Winter is a nourishing season, so it is suggested to start your day with 1 tsp ghee, or include gond laddoos, nut laddoos, or ghee-rich meals.

Mistake 3: Eating too much dry food

Third mistake that people often make is that they eat too much of dry food like bhakri or khakhra or paratha, which are very dry. Shweta explains that winter is actually a vata season and with such foods vata increases a lot. So if you eat dry foods like raw salads or something, it is going to dry the system all the most, leading to more problems.
Fix: So it is very important that you pair the food along with the ghee as well as you have very nourishing and hydrating kinds of foods, she recommends.
