Ingredients: 1 small amla, 1 cup of pomegranate, chaat masala to taste, and black salt to taste
Method: Grate and blend the deseeded amla, and strain it. Juice the pomegranate. Mix both juices, add a pinch of chaat masala and black salt to taste and serve fresh.

Both pomegranate and amla are packed with vitamin C and antioxidants that strengthen the immune system, helping your body fight infections, flu, and fatigue. According to a study, amla is rich in antioxidant and bioactive compound content, including vitamin C, gallic acid, ellagic acid, and other polyphenols that help boost immunity by reducing oxidative stress, lowering inflammation, and enhancing the activity of immune cells. Amla is also known for its anti-microbial, antidiabetic, and anti-inflammatory benefits that boost immune health. And pomegranate is also rich in vitamin C, which is essential for stimulating white blood cells, helps fight off colds and infections, and also help speed up wound healing. It is said that pomegranate can help inhibit bacteria and viruses, including some that affect the mouth and gut, acting as a natural defense booster.

In an Instagram post, nutritionist Anjali Mukerjee has mentioned that these deep-coloured fruits are full of a potent variety of antioxidants, including lesser-known phytochemicals that scientists think are important for cellular repair, as well as well-known substances like vitamin C, polyphenols, and anthocyanins. These antioxidants combat free radicals, which are unstable chemicals that gradually harm cells, causing wrinkles, decreased skin suppleness, and other ageing symptoms. According to Dr. Joseph Salhab, a gastroenterologist with expertise in digestion, liver, pancreas & nutrition, pomegranate juice is good for the liver. As per a study titled A systematic review on the cardiovascular pharmacology of Emblica officinalis Gaertn., amla has traditionally been considered as a cardioactive medication and has demonstrated remarkable cardiovascular effects in the pharmacological literature. Clinical trials indicate that amla supplementation (often as 500 mg capsules or aqueous extracts) significantly improves lipid profiles by reducing total cholesterol as well. And pomegranate is said to support healthy blood circulation and helps manage cholesterol levels. Their combined effect promotes a stronger, healthier heart.

The antioxidants in pomegranate may help fight brain inflammation, improve memory, and protect against neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s.
