What happens when you consume avocado and cocoa powder

Some food combinations work like magic. And one such combination is avocado and cocoa powder. They blend in well together to give the perfect creamy texture that suits delicious treats and are also full of nutrients. The rich fiber content of avocado helps promote satiety and support healthy digestion. And cocoa powder, on the other hand, is rich in antioxidants called polyphenols and flavonoids, which help reduce inflammation, improve heart health by lowering blood pressure and cholesterol, and enhance blood flow. According to an Instagram post by the handle endbackpain, mixing avocado and cocoa powder boosts brain function and reduces acne. It states that healthy fats in avocado nourish the brain, while cocoa’s antioxidants fight inflammation linked to skin issues. Let us find out what the study says about avocado and cocoa powder and how one can combine these two superfoods for better cognitive health.

What does the study say?

According to a study, cocoa powder and chocolate contain a large percentage of flavonoids that display several beneficial actions on the brain. In addition to their beneficial effects on the vascular system and on cerebral blood flow, flavonoids interact with signalization cascades involving protein and lipid kinases. Chocolate also induces positive effects on mood and is often consumed under emotional stress. In addition, flavonoids preserve cognitive abilities during aging in rats, lower the risk for developing Alzheimer's disease and decrease the risk of stroke in humans. Another study states that cocoa flavanols can improve cognitive performance, processing speed, attention, and verbal fluency in older adults and those with mild cognitive impairment. Cocoa flavanols promote brain health through enhanced cerebral blood flow, neuroprotection, anti-inflammatory effects, and support for synaptic plasticity and neuronal survival.

How avocado is good for brain health

Avocados are a powerhouse of nutrition. This creamy green fruit is rich in healthy fats, fiber, and other nutrients that support overall well-being. According to a PMC research, regular avocado consumption is linked to better memory, attention, and executive function in older adults. Avocados are high in monounsaturated fats, which support healthy blood flow and reduce inflammation, as well as carotenoids like lutein, which accumulate in brain tissue and may protect against cognitive decline. They are also a good source of B vitamins, which aid in brain metabolism and reduce brain inflammation. Overall, this fruit makes for a valuable one for boosting brain health.
