Eat garlic in this way to get maximum benefits

Garlic is an irreplaceable part of Indian cuisine and is added to vegetables, curries and dals. Just a few cloves of garlic are enough to give the perfect flavour and aroma to your dish. Apart from infusing flavour in dishes, garlic brings along a number of health benefits. But what is the best way to have garlic to get maximum benefits from it? Read on to know.

2/4

Best way to have it

Chop one garlic clove into 3-4 pieces and place it on a spoon. Drizzle a few drops of honey on the spoon and let it sit aside for two minutes. Now just have it and chew the garlic properly and gulp it down. You can also drink 2-3 sips of warm water with it if the flavour of garlic seems a bit overwhelming to you.

You can also mix 10 cloves of chopped garlic in 5 tablespoons of honey and store it for everyday use. Just scoop out one teaspoon from this mixture and have it every day. Make sure you store this mixture in an airtight bottle and it will easily last a week.

3/4

When to have it?

The best time to have this combination of honey and garlic is in the morning. Always mix honey with garlic, as eating garlic raw can cause acidity, but combining honey with garlic causes no such harm. In fact, honey and garlic helps in dealing with stomach infections and treats them in a natural manner. As garlic is a wonderful antioxidant, it also helps in the weight loss process. Just regularly consume the honey-garlic combination in the morning and get more benefits from it.

Honey and garlic benefits

Garlic is a natural blood thinner, so it helps in stabilising high blood pressure and cholesterol levels. Honey on the other hand too is helpful for heart patients, as it lowers LDL, which is a type of bad cholesterol. Garlic is a storehouse of antibiotic and antifungal sulphur compounds like allicin and ajoene, that not only safeguards you from infections but also treats common cold and cough. Intake of honey and garlic on an empty stomach is usually recommended by dieticians to treat cases of acid reflux and regurgitation.

Disclaimer: Make sure you don’t eat excess garlic as it can cause severe side effects. Just have a small clove of garlic every day with half a teaspoon of honey for best results.
