While other details of JD Vance’s upcoming Indian visit is unclear, it's quite sure that he will be indulging in some Indian cuisines during his visit. The VP has developed a taste for Indian vegetarian food, thanks to his wife Usha Vance.

During his earlier appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience, the VP divulged about his love for Indian food. He advocated for Indian food. And guess what’s his favourite Indian food? Paneer, rice, and chickpeas.

“I'm married to an Indian-American. They make very good vegetarian food,” Vance said. The VP also lauded his wife’s culinary skills and said, “The vegetarian food she makes is exceptional.”

Vance admitted that initially when he started to date his wife, he was a 'meat and potatoes guy from Ohio' and he was introduced to Indian food through her. In order to impress his then-girlfriend and now-wife, Vance decided to make her dinner. “And I wanted to make her dinner, and I wanted to really impress her because I was, like, madly in love with her. The meal that I made her, I'm not proud of this, but I'll tell you, it was, you know what crescent rolls are?” Vance told the podcaster.

"I rolled out a flat thing of crescent rolls. I put raw broccoli on top of it. I sprinkled ranch dressing, and I stuck them in the oven for 45 minutes," Vance recalled and he admitted that his ‘vegetarian pizza’ was ‘disgusting’.

He also recommended some of his favourite Indian dishes to those who want to try them, "For any vegetarian out there, eat paneer, rice, and delicious chickpeas. If you want to embrace a vegetarian lifestyle, turn to Indian cuisine. It offers wonderful vegetarian options," he said.

Usha Vance too has spoken about how her husband absolutely loves Indian food. When she took the stage at the 2024 Republican National Convention she said, “Although he’s a meat-and-potatoes kind of guy, he adapted to my vegetarian diet and learned to cook food from my mother — Indian food.”

The couple loves to explore food, especially vegetarian food and India undoubtedly offers the best of it.
