Prepare the dal

Take 1 cup of masoor dal and wash it well, at least 3-4 times. Once washed well, add it to a bowl. Fill the bowl with 1.5 cups of warm water and let it sit for about 20 minutes. Now after 20 minutes, add the dal and the water to a blender. Blend at high speed. Add ¼ cup of water, scrape the sides and again blend till you get a smooth mixture.

Cooking method

For the cooking process, take a non-stick pan or a stainless steel one. Pour the batter to the pan along with 1.5 cups of water. Give a good mix. Cook the mixture for 7-8 minutes and stir every minute, in order to prevent any lumps. Once the mixture thickens and turns glossy, it is ready to be set.

4/5

Setting method

For setting the paneer, you need a rectangular or square glass container. Pour the batter into the glass container and level it from all sides. Cover the container with a cling film and then a lid. Set it aside and let the paneer set properly. The process will take about 6 hours.

Ready to be used

Once set, your homemade paneer is ready to be used. All you need to do is take out the paneer slab and chop it into pieces. Store the leftover paneer in an airtight container in the fridge. This homemade paneer is perfect for paneer sabzi, stir-fries, sandwiches, wraps and more.
