Have these foods before going to bed

At a time when we are surrounded by hazardous air, a ravaging global pandemic and adulterated food items, it is very important to look after our health and well-being. It is a fact that an unhealthy body is a potential home to diseases and health issues. Thus, eating right throughout the day combined with ample exercise are key to a healthy life.

More importantly, along with proper diet and exercise, a good night’s sleep is vital to stay fit and healthy. No matter how much of a nutritious diet you follow throughout the day, but if you don’t sleep well, it’s the same as money going down the drain. Thus, it must be ensured that you eat healthy throughout the day that include food items that help you sleep better and improves your sleep quality. Here are 7 best food and drinks to have before bed.

2/8

Chamomile Tea

Evidence suggests that drinking chamomile tea may boost your immune system, reduce anxiety and depression, and improve skin health. In addition, chamomile tea has some unique properties that may improve sleep quality.

3/8

Walnuts

Walnuts are a good source of healthy fats, including omega-3 fatty acids and linoleic acid. Eating walnuts improves sleep quality, as they’re one of the best food sources of melatonin. The fatty acid in walnuts provides alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), an omega-3 fatty acid that’s converted to DHA in the body. DHA may increase serotonin production, which induces sleep.

4/8

Kiwi

Kiwi contains a decent amount of folate and potassium as well as several trace minerals too. Also, they may also be one of the best foods to eat before bed. The sleep-promoting effects of kiwis are credited to serotonin. Moreover, the anti-inflammatory antioxidants in kiwis, such as vitamin C and carotenoids, may be responsible for their sleep-promoting effects.

5/8

Fatty fish

Fatty fish, such as salmon, tuna, trout etc. are incredibly healthy and rich in vitamin D and omega-3 fatty acids. The combination of omega-3 fatty acids and vitamin D in fatty fish has the potential to enhance sleep quality, as both have been shown to increase the production of serotonin.

6/8

Almonds

Almonds are a source of the hormone melatonin. Melatonin regulates your internal clock and signals your body to prepare for sleep. They are also rich in magnesium, which helps reduce levels of the stress hormone cortisol, which is known to interrupt sleep.

7/8

Passionflower tea

Passionflower tea is another herbal tea that has been traditionally used to treat a number of health ailments. Additionally, passionflower tea has been studied for its potential to reduce anxiety. The calming properties of passionflower tea may promote sleepiness, so it may be beneficial to drink it before going to bed.

8/8

Turkey

Turkey is high in protein, which is important for keeping your muscles strong and regulating your appetite. The protein in turkey may also contribute to its ability to promote tiredness. Consuming moderate amounts of protein before bed is associated with better sleep quality and less waking up throughout the night.
