Work from home has led to binging and weight gain

The global pandemic scare has changed the dynamics and work culture all over the world. The pandemic scare has forced nations to adapt stringent measures to ensure safety of the masses. Even in India, the prolonged lockdown phase has changed everything and most importantly, it has changed the work culture. Work from Home may seem blissful to some, but work from home isn’t free from challenges and the biggest challenge for most of us is to manage time and odd hunger pangs. No wonder, the temptation to eat something good every now and then has engulfed our minds so much that resisting the urge to eat sumptuous foods has eventually spoiled our routine and led to a constant increase in weight.

Well, it isn’t a great idea to step out at this fearsome situation. Hence the only resort to stay healthy and fit during lockdown is by going for some healthy habits that make you healthy and ready to face the world after the lockdown is over. We spoke to a few health and nutrition experts and here’s an insight into the suggestions they gave us to stay healthy and curb the monstrous appetite for junk food. So, if you too want to get back to shape, then read on and follow this simple plan to lose weight quickly.

Begin your day with a glass of warm water

There’s nothing better than a glass of lukewarm water. Almost 75 percent of our body is made of water and electrolytes. In fact, the best way to begin your day is with a glass of water. It helps in flushing out toxins and improves digestion.

Fat-burning Lemon water

After half an hour of drinking warm water, drink a glass of lemon water, this will help in burning fats and removing toxins from the system. Just squeeze half a lemon in some warm water, this will also help in burning the fat deposition in the body. If you don’t like the taste and feel nauseated, you can add a teaspoon of honey as per your taste preference.

4/8

Drink homemade weight loss tea

Why buy a weight loss herbal tea, when you can make one at home. Take one litre water and add 1 teaspoon of each: cumin seeds, fenugreek seeds and coriander seeds. Once the blend is boiled properly, cool it down to room temperature and drink it through the day to lose weight effectively.

5/8

Go for a nutrient rich breakfast

As they say breakfast like a king and dinner like a pauper, make sure you breakfast makes for most of your nutrient needs of the day. Go for healthy foods like eggs, fruits, freshly made vegetable juices, oat meals, paneer sandwich, healthy fruit bowls with quinoa or soaked oats etc. In fact, if you're fond of Indian breakfast than idli, neer dosa, appam can make for a healthy breakfast when served with chutney or sambhar. Eating healthy and eating in moderation is the key to good health.

6/8

Lunch with a bunch of fresh produce

Balanced diet is the key to good health, you can go for a healthy home cooked meal with a portion of salad, brown rice, dal and sabzi. If you don’t want to cook an elaborate meal or if you are running out of time, you can also go for Moong dal cheela, oats cheela, paneer rice or paneer roll. You can also make one bowl meals with boiled chickpeas and rice to which chopped veggies can be added. Make sure you add a healthy portion of veggies to add more fiber to your meals.

7/8

Perfect evening munchies

A good tea can fix everything so make sure you replace your sugar and add jaggery to make it really good. You can pair your tea with a simple toast or fried rice puffs, roasted channa or a simple jhal muri with veggies and spices. Going for these light evening munchies are a better way to enjoy your tea time without putting on weight.
