How to consume Rajma for lunch?

Rajma or kidney beans is a popular legume enjoyed across India. And when it comes to these high-protein beans, the most popular dish is Rajma Chawal. But, if you are someone who has a deep love for rajma, but is bored of this traditional dish, then we have got some really interesting variations that can be enjoyed for lunch.

Rajma Kebab


These are melt-in-the-mouth treats made with boiled rajma, mashed and combined with boiled and mashed chana dal, and spices shaped into kebabs and shallow fried in ghee. They go really well with roomali roti.

Rajma Wraps


Saute boiled rajma in butter along with paprika and Italian seasonings. Layer the whole wheat wrap sheets with sauces of your choice along with sauteed rajma, top it with some onion, beetroot, and carrot rings. Roll it up and enjoy.

Rajma Cutlet


These are deep fried snacks that pair well with soup on the side. All you need to do is combine boiled rajma with boiled potatoes and spices, coat well with milk and corn flour slurry and breadcrumbs and deep fry.

Rajma Salad



This makes for a high-protein and light lunch delight, where you toss boiled rajma with diced cucumber, onion, tomatoes, zucchini, corn, lemon juice, olive oil, and herbs. Enjoy it fresh.

Rajma paratha


Simply mash boiled rajma, spice it with salt, pepper, lemon juice, onions, and coriander leaves, stuff it in whole wheat flour dough and roast on a griddle with oil or ghee.

Rajma Appe


Give the boiled rajma a South Indian twist. Combine mashed rajma with curd and sooji and veggies of your choice. Add some baking soda and then cook the appe in a traditional appe pan. Enjoy with sambar and coconut chutney on the side.

Rajma Fried Rice


To make this Indo-Chinese dish, you need to saute boiled rajma with onion, capsicum, and corn in butter along with soy sauce, chilli sauce, and vinegar and then add leftover rice and top it with salt, and spring onion.
