How to make classic Poha for breakfast at home

Easy Poha Recipe

Poha makes for a popular and classic breakfast treat that one can try at home. Made with soaked flattened rice, peanuts, and basic spices like turmeric, salt, and chilli, it is a popular Indian breakfast enjoyed in all parts of the country. Scroll down to read the recipe.

Ingredients


2 cups thick soaked poha, 2 tbsp oil, ½ tsp mustard seeds, ½ tsp cumin seeds, 8–10 curry leaves, 1 green chilli, 1 medium onion, 1 small potato, ¼ tsp turmeric powder, salt to taste, 1 tsp sugar, 1 tsp lemon juice, 2 tbsp coriander leaves, and 2 tbsp roasted peanuts

Step 1


Heat a pan and roast the peanuts and set them aside.

Also, chop onion, coriander leaves, green chilli, and potato. Set them aside.

Heat oil in the same pan, add cumin, mustard seeds, green chilli, and curry leaves. Let them crackle.

Add onion and potato and saute them for 4-6 minutes.

Add turmeric, salt, sugar, and cook for 2 minutes.

Add washed and soaked poha and combine well. Cook for 2-3 minutes.

Top it with lemon juice, coriander leaves, and peanuts. Serve hot.
