Right way to make Dahi Upma

Dahi Upma is a simple and comforting breakfast, ideal for summer months. The combination of roasted semolina and curd along with spices make for a filling breakfast meal and keeps you energetic too. This is a filling and simple breakfast dish that has a sweet and tangy aftertaste. In case you don't have curd, you can also use buttermilk for the dish. Ingredients


1 cup semolina, 1 cup thick curd, ½–1 cup water, 1 small onion, 1–2 green chilies, 1 tsp mustard seeds, 1 tsp cumin seeds, 8–10 curry leaves, 1 tbsp oil or ghee, salt to taste, 1 cup chopped veggies, 1 tbsp peanuts, and fresh coriander leaves

To begin with, dry roast the semolina on medium heat until it turns slightly aromatic.

In a mixing bowl, whisk curd with water and salt until smooth. Keep it aside.

Heat oil or ghee in a pan and add mustard seeds, let them splutter. Also, add cumin seeds, curry leaves, peanuts, and green chilies.

Now, add chopped onions and sauté until soft. Toss in chopped vegetables like carrot, capsicum, and beans. Cook for 2–3 minutes.

Lower the heat and pour in the curd mixture and keep stirring continuously.

Now, add the roasted rava while stirring to avoid lumps. Adjust the salt and black pepper. Cover and cook for 3–5 minutes until soft and fluffy.

Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.
