How to make fiber-rich Gobhi ka Paratha for breakfast

Benefits of cauliflower and easiest paratha recipe

Come winter, and stuffed parathas for breakfast often tempt the taste buds. And one of the most popular paratha variations for breakfast is Gobhi ka Paratha. Gobhi, or cauliflower, as an excellent source of dietary fiber, helps support smooth digestion, prevents constipation, and promotes the growth of healthy gut bacteria. It also helps in regulating blood sugar levels, keeping you fuller for longer, and supporting weight management. Being low in calories yet rich in fiber, cauliflower makes a great addition to balanced meals. As per the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) data, 100 gms of cauliflower offers 3.3 g of fiber. According to a study published by the National Library of Medicine, cauliflower bioactive compound sulforaphane inhibits breast cancer development. It is also low in calories and is proven to be rich in fiber, which helps aid digestive health. Take a look at the simplest recipe and give it a try.

Ingredients required

For dough: 2 cups whole wheat flour, ½ tsp salt, water as needed, and 1 tsp oil
For stuffing: 2 cups grated cauliflower, 1 green chilli, 1 tsp grated ginger, ½ tsp ajwain, ½ tsp red chilli powder, ½ tsp garam masala, ½ tsp haldi, ½ tsp amchur, 2 tbsp chopped coriander, salt to taste, and oil or ghee for cooking

Step 1



Mix whole wheat flour, salt, and water. Knead into a soft dough and rest for 10–15 minutes.

Take the grated cauliflower and squeeze out excess water.

Heat oil in a pan, add green chilli, ginger, ajwain and saute.

Add grated cauliflower, haldi, red chilli powder, garam masala, amchur, coriander, and salt. Cook until it dries up and is evenly cooked.

Divide the dough into small balls. Roll one ball into a small circle, place 2–3 tbsp filling in the center.

Bring the edges together, seal, dust with flour and roll gently into a paratha.

Cook the paratha on medium flame until brown spots appear. Apply ghee or oil and cook both sides till crisp and golden. Serve hot with butter, curd, and pickle.
