Oats benefits and healthy idli recipe

If you are bored of regular rice idli, then this Instant Oats Idli will surely surprise your taste buds. Oats is one of the healthiest grains and can be easily added to a daily diet. Thanks to rich fiber content—especially beta-glucan—which helps lower cholesterol, supports heart health, and stabilizes blood sugar levels, this grain has slowly sneaked into our regular meals. Packed with essential nutrients like magnesium, iron, protein, and antioxidants, oats also boost energy, improve gut health, and support better digestion. Take a look at the easiest recipe.

2/8

Ingredients required

1 cup rolled oats, 1/2 cup rava, 1 cup curd, 1/2 cup water, 1 carrot, 1 green chilli, 1 tsp ginger, 2 tsp oil, 1/2 tsp mustard seeds, 1/2 tsp urad dal, 1 tsp chana dal, 6-8 curry leaves, salt to taste, 1 tsp baking soda

3/8

Step 1

Dry roast oats on medium heat for 3–4 minutes until aromatic. Then, cool and grind into a coarse powder.

4/8

Step 2

Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds, urad dal, chana dal, green chilli, ginger, and curry leaves. Sauté until the dals turn golden.

5/8

Step 3

In a bowl, combine powdered oats, rava, curd, salt, grated carrot, and the tempering. Add water gradually to make a thick idli-like batter.

6/8

Step 4

Let the batter rest for 10 minutes and adjust water if it becomes too thick.

7/8

Step 5

Just before steaming, add 1 tsp Eno, mix gently, and immediately pour into greased idli moulds.

8/8

Step 6

Steam for 10–12 minutes on medium heat until the idlis rise and turn fluffy. Serve hot with sambar and chutney.
