Dos and don’ts for summer months

Think of the humid summer months, when many of us lose appetite and end up relying on liquid diets to gain energy. Keeping the coming humid summer months in mind, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare recently shared dos and don’ts related to food habits, one should follow during these months. Apart from the below-mentioned dietary tips, the Ministry has advised to stay indoors during the day, and also avoid direct sun between 12 noon and 3 p.m. (Image: istock)

Stay hydrated

Salted drinks

When it comes to the human body, a balance of salt and sugar is necessary. To cover up the loss of salt due to sweating, the Ministry advised consuming beverages like lemon water, buttermilk, lassi, and fruit juices. It is also suggested to keep Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS) handy for humid days to handle extreme dehydration. (Image: istock)

Eat fresh fruits

During the summer season, it is also suggested to consume fruits with high water content, including oranges, muskmelon, watermelon, lemons, mangoes, and cucumber. (Image: istock)
