Pizza delivery boy tests positive for Covid and lands 72 families in trouble

​Delivering Covid-19!

As India battles the coronavirus pandemic scare by enforcing stringent and preventive measures to control the outbreak, a slight ignorance can land millions in trouble. Recently, a pizza delivery boy in South Delhi’s Malviya Nagar tested positive for coronavirus after showing symptoms for around 20 days.

After this detection, the authorities have put around 72 families under home quarantine. Apart from this, 17 other delivery executives who have been in touch with this delivery boy have been tested for covid-19 and have been put under institutional quarantine.

​The Covid-19 carrying pizza delivery!

Despite all preventive measures, this recent case has again highlighted the matter of safety in terms of food ordering amidst the crisis. The pizza delivery boy is a resident of Savitri Nagar area in Malviya Nagar, South Delhi. The delivery executive had symptoms of Covid-19 and was tested positive on 14th April, which has emerged as a major trouble for authorities to trace his deliveries in the area. This was followed by a series of people quarantined.

​Food service providers in defense of the trouble

In the light of the matter, Food delivery service provider Zomato has issued a statement: ‘Some of the deliveries made by the concerned restaurant were done via Zomato. We are not sure whether the rider was infected at the time of delivery.'

Zomato has also claimed that the restaurant had asked all delivery boys to wear masks and take precautions. However, a sigh of relief came in when other delivery agents working closely with him were tested negative.

​The constant battle against coronavirus!

When the entire world is struggling to control the outbreak and working towards finding a cure for this deadly virus attack, ignorance is putting lives under constant threat. As per the Ministry of Health, the toll has been rapidly increasing despite preventive measures and a nationwide lockdown. India's death toll has touched nearly 414 while the total number of cases has crossed 12,300.
