The right way to consume groundnuts

Sadhguru often talks about sustainable ways of living and eating habits. In one of his posts on YouTube, he explained about one of the best milk alternatives. Rich in high-quality protein, calcium, and vitamin B12, milk is said to support strong bones and teeth while aiding muscle growth and repair. It also provides essential minerals like potassium and phosphorus, which help maintain heart health and proper nerve function. And with the recent buzz about milk adulteration, finding pure milk is not less than a task. Keeping that in view, Sadhguru says, if you soak groundnut, it is one of the best things you can consume. It's a complete diet by itself. Scroll down to find the details and easy recipes.

What does Sadhguru say?

As per Sadhguru, if you drink one large glass of groundnut milkshake, it's a complete diet and it can easily keep you full for 4-5 hours. It's a good breakfast and it takes care of all your calcium requirements also. As per his post on Isha Foundation website, whole grains, lentils and nuts are an excellent alternative to milk, in order to get the daily dietary requirement of calcium. For example: Groundnuts. These are a complete diet by themselves. In India, many yogis go on a 100% groundnut diet because it is a complete food by itself, if it is eaten raw, he states. Explaining the right way of eating groundnuts, he states that they must be soaked for a minimum of six hours in water, which takes away certain aspects which in Ayurveda are called Pitta. If you eat groundnuts without soaking them, it tends to cause rashes and nausea, he warns.

What else is a good milk alternative

As per Sadhguru's post on Isha Foundation website, horsegram is also a healthy milk alternative. It is a good source of dietary iron and calcium and among the richest vegetarian sources of protein. However, the calcium and iron are combined into certain chemical compounds, rendering them un-absorbable by the body. Germination of the horsegram is a simple method of food processing that increases the availability of iron and calcium, resulting in increased nutritive value. Sprouted horse gram is also digested much more easily, states his post. He further states that horsegram tends to increase the level of heat in the body, which can help tide over coughs and colds during cloudy and rainy weather. However, when the sun is up, if the horsegram is heating the body up, it must be balanced by eating sprouted green gram. Also, it is said that horsegram is rich in insoluble fibre, which helps prevent constipation, improves gut health, and supports regular bowel movements.

Benefits of peanuts

According to a study titled Effects of Peanut Consumption on Cardiovascular Risk Factors, it is said that peanuts provide high levels of essential minerals such as magnesium (supporting bone, cardiovascular, and nerve health), copper, manganese, iron, and potassium, contributing to overall well-being. And the study titled Peanuts as functional food: a review, it is said that peanuts are an excellent source of compounds like resveratrol, phenolic acids, flavonoids and phytosterols that block the absorption of cholesterol from diet. It is also a good source of Coenzyme Q10 and contains all the 20 amino acids with the highest amount of arginine. These bioactive compounds have been recognized for having disease preventive properties and are thought to promote longevity. The processing methods like roasting and boiling have shown an increase in the concentration of these bioactive compounds. Also, their low glycaemic index helps in maintaining stable blood sugar levels, while their filling nature makes them beneficial for weight management when consumed in moderation. Also, did you know that roasting peanuts enhances flavour and increases antioxidant availability.
