
When it comes to colourful and vibrant veggies, the bright shade of pumpkin idten strikes us. It is a nutritious and versatile vegetable and is said that the fruit of pumpkin including the flesh, seed, and peel are a rich source of primary and secondary metabolites, including proteins, carbohydrates, monounsaturated fatty acids, polyunsaturated fatty acids, carotenoids, tocopherols, tryptophan, delta-7-sterols, and many other phytochemicals. Other benefits of pumpkin includes such as improving spermatogenesis, wound healing, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, antioxidative, anti-ulcerative properties, and more. Its high fibre content aids digestion, promotes gut health, and helps maintain a feeling of fullness, making it beneficial for weight management. Low in calories yet packed with potassium, vitamin C, and antioxidants, pumpkin supports heart health and helps regulate blood pressure. Its anti-inflammatory properties strengthen immunity. Mostly used to make sabzi, curry, or as a softening agent for kebabs, this versatile vegetable is used in many exotic ways across the world. It is one of the richest natural sources of beta-carotene, which gives pumpkin its bright orange colour. In a recent post on its website, Taste Atlas released a list of 56 Best Rated Dishes with Pumpkin. And much to our surprise, there is only one dish that has secured te 45th position. As per the website, for the “56 Best Rated Dishes with Pumpkin” list until January 24, 2026, 940,959 ratings were recorded, of which 610,190 were recognized by the system as legitimate. It is a traditional stew or vurry originating from Kerala. The dish is made with a combination of red pumpkin (kaddu), cucumbers, and a ball of tamarind soaked in water.
