Bajra ka atta is a part of several Indian cuisines, especially in North India, where in this millet is extensively used to make rotis and khichdi on special occasions, etc. But do you know why Bajra is a much loved millet? This is due to its taste, gluten free composition and the nutrients in this millet such as protein, fiber, magnesium, iron, which provide satiety and help in losing weight, improving digestion and boosts overall immunity. A 100 gram serving of this atta has around 12 grams of protein and 242 grams of a mineral Phosphorus, which helps the body's growth, development and cell/tissue repairing.

Jowar flour


Jowar also known as Shorghum is a millet, which is loaded with calcium, iron, phosphorus, magnesium, niacin, riboflavin, thiamin, folate and antioxidants. This gluten rich millet is perfect for someone who is trying to lose weight as the dietary fiber in jowar provides satiety and reduces odd hunger pangs. According to health experts, adding millets to the daily diet can help in reducing blood sugar levels and improve heart health. In case you find it difficult to digest, mixing equal quantities of jowar or wheat flour can also help in improving the intake of dietary fiber and essential nutrients.

How to make it: Knead Jowar flour with hot water and 1 tsp of salt. Allow it to rest. Make thick rotis.

With around 354 calories in 100 gram per serving and around 13 grams of protein in 1 serving, this millet helps in managing blood sugar levels, improves insulin sensitivity due to the presence of amino acids and dietary fiber. This also helps in reducing odd cravings and helps in effective weight loss. Replacing refined flour with ragi flour can help you lose weight in just a few weeks!

How to make it: Knead Ragi flour with warm milk/water, a pinch of sugar of salt and some oil. You can also add 1/4 cup wheat flour.
