Post-meal snack for better digestion

It often happens that post a scrumptious meal we feel uneasy and sometimes crave sweets too. We all know that both situations are not good for the digestive system and hence a permanent remedy is needed for the same. Keeping the same situations in view, lifestyle and wellness coach and author Luke Coutinho recently shared an interesting post-meal snack that can help improve digestion and also cut sugar cravings post meals. As per his post, each of the ingredients used in this snack is documented in science to help with digestion, digestive enzymes, stomach acid and reduce excess gas build-up. He states, “I’ve been having a tablespoon of this post-meal for 5 days, cuts any form of sweet cravings for me and many others ….hope it works for you …this mix is rich in calcium and micronutrient too.” Let us tell you more about this snack, how to make it at home, and its benefits. ​How to make post-meal snack

In a mixing bowl, add 1 tbsp cumin seeds, 1 tbsp fennel seeds, 1 tbsp ajwain, 1 tbsp black sesame seeds, 1 lemon, and mix it all together, cover and keep for 4 hours, Next, lightly roast them with ¼ tsp turmeric powder and pure rock salt to taste. ​Benefits of post-meal snack

From Ayurveda to medical science, each one talks about the benefits of spices and seeds that are considered good for the human body. As per experts, cumin seeds contain thymol, a compound that stimulates the enzymes, which enables better secretion of digestive juices. Also, fennel seeds are good for digestion, as they reduce inflammation in the bowels and also decrease bacteria that cause gassiness. As per a study, fennel oil is helpful in relieving symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome. And, black sesame seeds are rich in healthy omega 3 fatty acids, which help lubricate the intestinal walls and help with constipation. And Luke has also mentioned that these seeds are also rich in fiber, which helps improve bowel movements. And as per reports, fennel seeds are also good at stabilising blood-sugar levels and food cravings, which helps in weight loss and managing sugar cravings. (Image: istock)
