People share their secret of loving tea so much

Phyllis Logan, a Scottish actress once said, “There is nothing quite like a freshly brewed pot of tea to get you going in the morning.” Today, as we celebrate the International Tea Day, we can’t agree more to her thoughts. For many of us, tea is like a morning ritual, for some a reason of bond and for some it’s life. According to Karan Shah, Director, Society Tea, "India is a tea drinking nation and every individual has a very personal relationship with their tea, being an intricate part of both India’s culture and history. We at Society Tea believe that the one thread that binds us unequivocally as a nation, symbolising ‘unity in diversity, speaking one common language that transcends regional distinctiveness, it is our love for tea. The way tea is consumed changes every100 km, and with the changing times there’s a growing need to improvise and adapt to ongoing trends. Society Tea has always been subtly invested in its duty towards society and as India experiences social distancing we have recently launched our visually appealing #StayAtHome campaign. The campaign inspires to brew delightful experiences and conversations over chai by portraying simple and small memories during the day, aiming to encourage people that until such a time is back, let’s not only stay safe, but also look forward to enjoying these moments with our friends, family and close ones." While all tea lovers share a different bond with their favourite flavour, mug, timing and so on, we recently asked people about their connection with tea and this is what they had to say:

2/7

Love and hug

Atul Sikand, a senior influencer and content creator based in Gurugram feels that tea is like a hug in a cup - welcome anytime of the day or night! He says, “It takes me back in time when I sit in balcony with my cup of tea and some Parle-G biscuit. It is therapeutic and rejuvenating.” Atul is known for his diverse knowledge about food and cuisines and that’s the reason his tea is meant to be perfect with accurate ratio of milk and water.

Freshness and energy

For Neha Bahl, founder, Qube Communication, her masala tea and hibiscus tea act as an energy booster and her day begins with a cup of either. After a hectic day, she relaxes her mind with a cup of herbal tea too.
4/7

Peace and refinement

Chef Utkarsh Bhalla, Brand Executive Chef, Azure Hospitality considers chai as a feeling of peace and refinement, something that restores my normality. It’s warm and comforting which inspires a feeling of relaxation and trust that fosters shared confidence.
5/7

Childhood memory

For actor Krishna Bhardwaj, tea is a part of his childhood memories that he now in every flavours. He says, “I love tea, but can't have tea made by anyone else other than myself.” He recalls, “During childhood, I was forbidden to have tea by my dad. He never had tea. But I always loved the aroma of tea and used to persuade my mom give at least a cup of it daily. So she used to give me tea with breakfast. She used to place two glasses, one had tea and the other had milk. In case dad used to be around I used to pick the glass filled with milk. Now when I look back at those memories, it looks so funny.”“Interestingly, till date my dad is not aware that I drink tea,” he informs.

Immunity booster

While many of us are obsessed with milk tea, Nitish Jha, Founder, Healthy Souls, a tea brand feels that herbal tea is the future and for him tea is all about immunity booster. He says, “Looking at the current scenario, immunity is the most important asset to have. Tea has always been seen as an immunity booster. Even the Ministry of Ayush has recommended non-milk herbal teas to enhance immunity. It is one of the most preferred form of beverage. Not only does it help in increasing immunity but also enhances your metabolism and is an energy booster. New age teas are made to have medicinal properties and deal with lifestyle diseases like insomnia, hypertension, lower blood pressure, obesity etc. Non milk based tea's are picking up in India and will rise multifold in near future.”

Chai is heart

For many of us our day begins with tea and Zeeshan Ali, a communication professional is no different, He says, “For me, chai is what water is to plants, soul is to the body and mind is to thoughts.” He adds, “Chai is life to me in fact it's everything. I can't even imagine starting my day without a cup of it. It is my power reservoir, it's my power booster. I love to travel by road and my only hope to start my next expedition is always with a road side tea- I call it the real tea, the strongest, with the right amount of blend it needs to give you a start on whatever journey of life you are.”
