You are not a tea lover, if you haven't heard about these 5 types of viral tea

You can’t be a tea lover if you haven’t immersed your heart and soul into that warm cup of freshly brewed tea and laughed off your worries over that hot cuppa. The love of tea is subjective so much so that even the slight addition of ingredients can seem like blasphemy. Of late, the internet has exposed us to a bevy of tea fusions and varieties that are good as well as gross. Let’s take a look at some of the most viral tea varieties that changed our minds, before changing our palate and love for tea.

2/6

Dum Chai

Dum Chai is a classic Hyderabadi milk tea, which recently took the internet by storm with its aromatic flavour and rich texture. Made by pouring lukewarm water in a glass and covering it with a muslin cloth, sugar, ginger, tea leaves, cinnamon pieces, clove and star anise are kept over the cloth and slightly dunked in the glass of water. Then this glass is safely placed in a pressure cooker and cooked for 1 whistle to give a smokey effect. Then the muslin cloth is squeezed and the concoction is mixed with hot milk, stirred and enjoyed as Dum Tea.

Roohafza Chai

The mere thought of sipping on the Roohafza chai will take your rooh(soul) out for a stroll, yes it is no less than a blasphemy for tea lovers. This Delhi tea maker makes pink tea wherein he pours Roohafza to regular chai to give it a rosy and sweet taste. This Delhi based tea stall left netizens with a bad taste and totally destroyed their love for the classic Pink Chai also known as Noon Chai.

Old Monk Tea

This viral Old Monk Tea came into limelight from the streets of Goa near the Sinquerim beach wherein this tea vendor makes Tandoori Rum tea by heating the Kulhad in a tandoor, then pouring some Old Monk Rum to the hot Kulhad followed by hot masala chai. For rum lovers this is yet another fusion, but chai lovers loved as well as hated this fusion.

Coconut Tea

This fusion left netizens divided. While some confused coconut tea for a coconut milk based tea while others imagined this as the worst addition. But this experiment is a simple yet nice way to create a smoky and tandoori effect at home. Coconut tea is basically a regular tea made in a coconut shell, the heating of the shell gives a charred effect, which adds a smoky touch to the taste of the tea.

Fruit Chai

This another weird Chai fusion comes from Gujarat, which has been the hub of food experiments. Fruit Chai is made by adding fresh fruits like chikoo, banana, apple and ginger to the regular doodh wali masala chai. While this Surat based tea vendor got a lot of hype for creating this holy mess, the internet and chai lovers are still disgusted with this fusion.
