5 Yoga asanas to help lower Uric acid

High uric acid, also known as hyperuricemia, takes place when uric acid levels in the blood rise above the normal range. This can result in joint pain, stiffness, and conditions like gout, which can be quite painful. While medicines and diet do help, there are certain Yoga asanas too that you can try to bring down your uric acid levels. These asanas boost kidney function, increase blood circulation to keep you healthy. Do these along with taking your medication..

Trikonasana

Trikonasana pose improves digestion and metabolism, which in turn can flush out excess uric acid. It also increases blood flow and stimulates the abdominal organs, helping the body get rid of toxins like uric acid. To reap the full benefits, do this asana everyday.

How to do it:

Stand with your feet wide apart.

Turn your right foot 90 degrees outward.

Stretch your arms out sideways.

Bend your body toward your right foot and place your right hand on your shin, ankle, or the floor. (whichever is comfortable for you)

Extend your left arm upward, looking at your left hand.

Hold for 30 seconds, then switch sides.

This pose gently stretches your sides and activates your digestive organs, hence helping your body remove uric acid.

Bhujangasana

Bhujangasana, or the cobra pose, strengthens the kidneys and improves its ability to filter out uric acid. It also boosts metabolism, and reduces joint pain caused by high uric acid levels (a condition known as gout that can be extremely uncomfortable)

How to do it:

Lie flat on your stomach with your palms under your shoulders.

Slowly lift your chest off the floor by straightening your arms, keeping your elbows close to your body.

Look upwards and hold the pose for 20-30 seconds.

Lower down gently.

This pose expands your chest and stimulates your abdominal organs, helping detoxification and reducing inflammation, that can cause uric acids levels to rise.

4/6

Pawanmuktasana

This asana simulates the digestive tract, helping to release trapped gas and improve metabolism. It also eases the pressure on kidneys, making it easier to eliminate uric acid through urine.

How to do it:

Lie on your back and bring your knees up to your chest.

Hold your knees with your hands and gently squeeze them toward your stomach.

Raise your head so your nose touches your knees.

Hold for 15-20 seconds and breathe deeply.

This pose gently massages the abdominal organs and promotes the removal of waste products like uric acid.

5/6

Ardha Matsyendrasana

This twisting pose helps detoxify the liver and kidneys, which are responsible for filtering uric acid from the body. The twist compresses the abdominal organs, improving digestion and toxin elimination. Take care of your posture while doing this asana.

How to do it:

Sit with your legs stretched out.

Bend your right knee and place your right foot outside your left thigh.

Bend your left leg and tuck your left foot near your right hip.

Place your left elbow on the outside of your right knee and twist your torso to the right.

Keep your right hand behind you for support.

Hold for 20 seconds, then switch sides.

This pose improves digestion and supports kidney and liver health, helping to keep uric acid levels balanced.

Shavasana

Simple and effortless, Shavasana reduces stress, which can be a great contributor to uric acid. Stress can increase purine metabolism, leading to higher uric acid levels. Relaxation helps balance hormones and can lower the uric acid caused by stress. Do Shavasana at the end of your yoga routine, and not before.

How to do it:

Lie flat on your back with your arms at your sides, palms facing upward.

Close your eyes and focus on your breath.

Stay still and relaxed for 5-10 minutes.

This pose calms your mind and body, helping reduce inflammation and uric acid levels indirectly. Do it along with other asanas for best results.
