One of the most common symptoms that people report following a heart attack is acute tiredness. The problem is far greater during recovery, according to those who were exhausted prior to their heart disease. Some people have weariness for a few weeks, while others endure it for a year or more. Heart fatigue, also known as cardiac fatigue or heart strain, can be caused by various conditions, including overexertion, stress, or underlying heart disease.”

Here are some common signs and symptoms:



Physical Symptoms:
1. Shortness of Breath: Difficulty breathing, especially during physical activity or when lying down.
2. Chest Discomfort: Mild chest pain, tightness, or pressure, not necessarily as severe as a heart attack.
3. Fatigue: Persistent tiredness or a lack of energy that doesn’t improve with rest.

4. Swelling (Edema): fluid retention, especially in the legs, ankles, or feet.
5. Rapid or Irregular Heartbeat: Palpitations, fluttering, or skipping beats.
6. Dizziness or Lightheadedness: Feeling faint, especially when standing up.
7. Cold Sweats: Unexplained sweating, often associated with physical or emotional stress.



Dr. Saurabh Juneja, Director and Head of CTVS, Indian Spinal Injuries Centre, suggests some behavioral Symptoms of cardiac fatigue
1. Reduced Exercise Tolerance: Difficulty performing usual activities without feeling excessively tired.
2. Difficulty Sleeping: Waking up at night short of breath or needing to sleep propped up on pillows.



Warning signs of heart failure or serious problems:



If heart fatigue progresses or is caused by an underlying condition, it may result in more severe symptoms:
* Persistent chest pain lasting longer than a few minutes.
* Fainting or loss of consciousness.
* Blue-tinged skin (cyanosis) or cold extremities.
* Unexplained weight gain due to fluid retention.
