Drinking habits to avoid when trying to shed kilos

When it comes to losing weight, we scrutinise every food that we put on our plate. Right from calorie count to the portion size, we evaluate well before eating to stay on track. One thing we often forget is that not only food but beverages we take in a day have a similar impact on our weight loss plan. So, when following a weight loss diet, you need to equally pay attention to the drink you have in a day. Missing on this crucial part of a healthy diet can easily sabotage your weight loss goal.

2/6

Packed fruit juices

Fruit juice is good for health there isn't any doubt about it. They provide us with vitamins and minerals that help our body to carry out all the internal functions well and aid in the weight loss process. But we get all these benefits only if we take freshly squeezed fruit juice. The packed fruit juice that we find in the supermarket is loaded with sugar that can easily sabotage the weight loss journey. Besides, they contain preservatives, which might not be that healthy.

3/6

Sweet tea

Tea is another loved beverage that people enjoy when they are trying to follow a diet for shedding kilos. Green tea, black tea or any kind of herbal tea all are good for health, except the packed sweetened iced tea available in the market. A bottle of sweetened iced tea contains from 200 to 450 calories that can easily wreck your diet. Look for healthier alternatives and have homemade tea.

4/6

Energy drinks

It is understandable that after a gruelling workout session, you need some chilled beverage to make up for the loss of fluid from the body in the form of sweat, but energy drinks are not an ideal choice for that. Sports drinks or energy drinks are loaded with sugar and flavouring agents that can lead to inflammation in the body. Coconut water or infused water or freshly squeezed fruit are much better options.

5/6

Alcohol intake

When you are looking to shed kilos, it is crucial to watch your alcohol intake. Most alcohols are high in calories and when you add cold drinks to them the calories count increases further. 1 pint of beer contains 208, which is enough to throw you off the track. Whiskey, tequila and gin contain comparatively fewer calories. Stick to one 1 drink a week.

6/6

Insufficient intake of water

Sufficient intake of water is something we all ignore in general. Drinking enough water is necessary for all, especially where you are trying to shed kilos. Water helps to flush out toxins from the body, boost metabolism and prevent unhealthy munching. So, try to drink at least 2 to 3 litres of water every day.
