Ayurveda: You should not combine curd with these 5 foods

A bowl of fresh and creamy curd topped with some chopped fruits is one the simplest joys of life. Apart from being a perfect meal accompaniment, curd also has a whole lot of health benefits. Loaded with calcium, vitamin B-2, vitamin B-12, magnesium and potassium, it's also easy to digest.

But not many people know that curd should not be paired with certain food items. Pairing curd with the wrong food item can be harmful to your health. Here's a list of 5 foods items curd should not be consumed with.

2/7

Onions

If you like to have onion curd raita, you need to change this habit. This is because as a food item curd is cold in nature, while onions produce heat in the body. The combination of this hot and cold can cause skin allergies like rashes, eczema, psoriasis and other issues.

3/7

Mango

A bowl of curd with chopped mangoes makes for a perfect dessert. However, just like onion and curd, mango and curd also create heat and cold in the body, which can cause several problems including skin issues, toxins in the body and more.

4/7

Fish

It is often suggested not to team up two protein-rich sources together. Ideally, you can pair a vegetarian source of protein with an animal source of protein but never pair a vegetarian source with another vegetarian source or a non-veg source with another non-veg source.

Curd is derived from animal milk and fish is also a non-vegetarian protein-rich source.

This can lead to indigestion and create other stomach related issues.

5/7

Milk

Milk and curd are two animal protein sources and thus should not be consumed together. Consuming these two together can lead to diarrhea, acidity and gas.

6/7

Urad dal

Urad dal when consumed with curd can disrupt your digestion in the long run. It can lead to acidity, gas, bloating and even diarrhoea.

7/7

Oily foods

We all love to have our ghee loaded paranthas with dahi. The combination of oily fried foods with dahi slows down the digestion and makes you feel lethargic.

That is the reason when you have chole bhature with a glass of lassi (made from dahi), you feel super sleepy.
